Notes
April 2017
So. This story has been in the making for quite some time now. I needed some time to figure out a good way to do it, since the photos, memories and our time there means so much to us. The fact is that I probably never will find an angle that I’m quite happy with so at this point it’s just better to get something out there. But it ended up pretty great I think. Would love to hear your thoughts on it as well.
This story is mainly about our second visit to Tokyo, which was this past April (2017). However we first paid Tokyo a visit last year and I just didn’t end up putting together a story from that trip. Honestly we had so many amazing experiences and impressions that I, like I said, couldn’t put something together that I felt represented our experience. When you have such fond memories and experiences it can be really hard to find a way to show that. And when we booked tickets to return I felt I should actually take some more time in this incredible city and sum up the experiences instead. So…
The storyline for this piece is mainly about and with photos from the most recent trip, with some images from last years’ sprinkled in.
Does that make any sense? Basically, a few of the (almost unlimited) highlights. There is so much I have left out here but that’s the way I have to do it, it would have been too long otherwise, could be good to keep that in mind. We truly love this city (and all of Japan, that we’ve seen at least). Our visit this year was part of the Hong Kong – Osaka/Kyoto – Tokyo trip and the first stop I have already published (story/gallery), while our experiences in Osaka/Kyoto will have to wait a little longer. It is still being mentally processed. Keep checking my site for new stuff on my photographic journey and if you want get in touch with me please send me an email – I would love to hear from you.
This is a story made up of fragments of experiences.
The only way I could do it.
Sakura Season
This year we went during “Sakura Season”, meaning it was prime time for cherry blossoms. While the trees and colours in Kyoto hade yet to reach full bloom, Tokyo was in its finest dress during our visit.
So expect a lot of the white and cerise in this on

Blue Bottle Coffee
Sure, this is an American chain of coffee shops from the Oakland, California area but Blue Bottle Coffee have such a great concept and was part of Drift Magazine’s list of great places to go to when in need of some great coffee in Tokyo. I stopped at a few of their shops and just had such a great time.
Their philosophy on coffee culture is amazing but so is their spaces and architecture. Open air, minimalist and simple furniture and just a great atmosphere.
I do recommend buying a coffee of your choice and then just sit down, have a sip and enjoy some people watching. Especially recommend their places in Kiyosumi and Nakameguro.
